Frequently Asked Questions

Each project is evaluated by our team, drawing on ten years of experience in bidding on video projects. Over the years, we've learned to be up front with clients about our starting range: typically, $15-20K is a good place to begin. This amount can increase with factors such as:
Multiple days of filming
Rushed timelines
Large crews
Hiring talent
We aim to build a reputation where, even if you don’t hire us, you'll be glad you reached out. We make it a point to reply to every email and treat every prospective client with respect and transparency.

No. One of the advantages of our pricing structure is that we don’t charge beyond the agreed estimate/scope.
We’ve done this enough times to be very accurate with the final dollar amount up front.
If a client wishes to add more deliverables beyond the original scope, we are happy to discuss the additional costs.
Typically, these late add-ons are the most economical part of the project because the main investment has already been made.

The nature and scope of a project significantly determine its timeline. Generally, a project unfolds over 8-12 weeks from the initial conversation. We encounter a few projects each year that can be completed within a few weeks if paired with a motivated client and quick-moving stakeholders.
We also take on projects that may extend over a year or more from start to finish. It’s important to remember that we can only move as fast as you can.

You're hiring us to be creative and bring the video to life. This means you can be involved as much or as little as you like!
At the very least, we'll conduct a comprehensive discovery meeting at the start of the project, ensuring our readiness to deliver your video project. Throughout the production process, our team is dedicated to keeping you informed at every stage.
If you’re more “hands on,” we can work with that too!
We value clients who choose to be more involved! Our team is capable of delivering a top-notch video, but you're our “eyes on the inside.” Whether you’re sharing your vision, collaborating with scriptwriting, or featuring in the video yourself, we’d love to have you on board! You know your business best, plus we’re guilty of being a lot of fun to work with.

Absolutely. Our team has successfully filmed in 22 states, and continues to expand our reach. While we undertake numerous projects within our studio, we are not confined to a single location. Instead, we actively go to the heart of the action, wherever that may be, ensuring versatility, and adaptability in our filmmaking endeavors.

We work with people and clients who:
See the value in paying for a premium product.
Are willing and able to invest in video that gives the best first impression.
Require the best.
Our team delivers the best results when we can bring our creative skills to address our clients' “problem” or their “why.”
We prefer clients who communicate effectively and voice their priorities at any stage of the project. Since we’re being honest, we also like clients who are interested in building relationships with our team. We’ve been fortunate enough to build trust with some of the best folks out there.
-
We prefer projects that require dedicated creativity, and have a runway to give both us, and the client, time to tackle all the necessary pre-production work.Proper planning, before any production, ensures a final product that lasts much longer (and is more useful) than a rushed job. Thanks to our process, many of our clients continue to use the videos we produce for them for 3-5 years.

In comparison to major urban areas, we possess a unique advantage in owning both our studio and equipment. Oftentimes, the norm for production companies in metro areas is to lease studio space and gear for each production. This ownership dynamic grants us not only control, familiarity, and flexibility that are often limited in large cities, but also contributes to long-term cost savings and enhances our creative freedom.
Additionally, operating costs, such as studio rental fees and equipment expenses, tend to be lower in North Dakota compared to major cities.
Another uncommon advantage Threefold possesses is having a 7-person full-time crew. Because we work together every day, we know how to work efficiently, and we aren’t relying on freelancers or inexperienced hires. Our team carries your project from birth to the finish line without losing vision along the way.

Similar to numerous Midwest states, one of our primary challenges revolves around the limited pool of local actors. Approximately 20% of our productions require talent like this. However, the solution is just a short plane ride away, as excellent talent is readily accessible.
To breathe life into our projects, we consistently draw upon the expertise of performers from outside North Dakota.
